Your Week Ahead: August 29 to September 4, 2021 – Calming Our Waters

The High Priestess, 6 of Swords, and Strength, from the Rider Waite Smith tarot deck.

The nocturnal tides of The High Priestess is guiding us once again toward self knowledge and self mastery. She appears in this week’s reading to start us off on the right foot and to find power in seeing past the noise of lies and deception. Sitting between the pillars of duality and polarity, she invites us to go past what we think we see, to experience the calmness and unity of what lies beyond the veil behind her.

As mentioned in last week’s reading, in order to enter her domain, we must be prepared to slow down, to quiet the mind, and to feel her nuanced presence around us. Her garment, full of the blue waters she is connected to, is soft and gentle. She has the ability to communicate to us vast amounts of information. Yet we may not even be aware of it, for she operates in the background of our consciousness where words and logic don’t really work.

She represents a highly awakened state of being. When we move around in our daily life, we usually follow a rather habitual and patterned existence. Many of us strive for a healthy awareness of our responses to things. We call this Mindfulness. However, being imperfect humans, we can defer to responses that draw from very subconscious patterns. These are times when we can lose our perspective on events and what they mean, and how to respond to them.

Entering her vibration gives us a chance to not only become aware of certain conditioning processes, but to wash ourselves and to be purified of those imprints. When we sit down and meditate, even for ten minutes, the mind becomes calm. Like any muscle, the mind can become prone to toxins and tension. Meditation allows the mind to soften and open its “pores” so that energy flows through these “fibres”.

We may experience our mind racing from one story to another. This is a normal function of the mind. Just notice the story and calmly bring the attention back to the breath. Meditation is not about stopping anything. It is about the awareness that it is happening. When we have more awareness, we have more ability to detach. The more we detach, the calmer we become. The calmer we become, the more we notice our inherent nature which is a pure loving equanimous state.

The 6 of Swords this week shows how we can enter that state and be taken to a place where the turbulence of life is left behind. We have indeed entered her realm and passed behind the veil where we can experience gentleness and restoration.

As we move toward the end of the week, and the Strength card’s energy comes into play, notice how we may be feeling resilient and refreshed. Perhaps we feel more directly connected to ourselves, and where once we may have lost control, now we direct and conduct our lives with true power. Not a control that spirals out from insecurity, but from a place where our pure ego radiates with affirmation and truth.

When we understand true passion, true anger, and our raw animal nature, we acquire the ability to harness such energy for it is not repressed by confusion nor suppressed by social conformity and public opinion. I always admire those individuals who say what needs to be said at precisely the right time. Their power is undiluted and their truth so immense. This week offers an opportunity to radiate such immensity.

Affirmation: The strength I seek is already present within me. I find time for a gentle approach to self awareness and allow the beautiful messages of my inner wisdom to arise freely. I let this energy wash over me and through me so that I can participate with life with more openness and honesty, and invite these qualities to participate with me.

Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
