Your Week Ahead: June 18 to 24, 2023 – What Defines You?

The Hermit, Ace of Pentacles, and King of Cups, from the The Star Tarot created by Cathy McClelland (www.cathymcclelland.com).

In today’s lifestyle choices, we are presented with so many options of what is desirable, what we think will make us happy, and a genuine connection to what we find valuable and unique. Still, there is a need to come into contact with our self worth. It can be easy to get caught up in a need to fill a hole that feels empty. Yet, many times we don’t ask the right questions, and so get pulled into a dynamic of materialism that isn’t really satisfying us in the long term.

This can seem a little cliche because we hear it a lot, about not feeding our spirit with materialistic obsessions. Perhaps the real question to ask ourselves is, when should we feel that we have enough. When do we lose perspective on that and then try to compensate or push too much. Then, we should ask why we are acting this way. What is really going on under the surface of our needs?

This week, we begin by getting in touch with something very personal. We seem to be needing a safe space of some kind because a part of our lives feels unknown. In working with The Hermit, we can work backwards from cards that aspect it. It is a sign that we need to investigate something. We inherently already know the answer for he represents our inner guide and innate wisdom.

Working back from the King of Cups suggests the need to look at what is needed in order to keep emotionally balanced. Are we getting enough self care? Do we have enough perspective on things so that we don’t get pulled into cloudy situations that don’t serve us?

Moving from The Hermit to the King of Cups, we pass through the Ace of Pentacles. This describes the need for a new way of doing things, a new attitude, like the realization of a key element which will open a door to more appreciation for what makes us happy and more connected. We can run around forever trying to get to something, or we can slow our pace and calm things down so that our inner reservoir is healthy and nourished.

What is key is that The Hermit will give us that opportunity to slow down so that we can recalibrate our vibration. What we are disconnected from will arise for us to address. If anything, we can just have a time of retreat where we aren’t so caught up in the activity of the outside world.

The Ace of Pentacles is like walking in a garden after the rain. Something is renewed and refreshed. The pentacles is an earthy card where we plant seeds into its dark soil. We are literally grounded and we can feel diffused of stress and electrical build up. This allows us the opportunity to get on top of certain currents in our lives. Or perhaps we simply have more awareness of what our spirit needs so that we can better ensure that it is provided.

The king emerges from his retreat and his time of reflection. He’s more connected with himself and he knows what he needs and why. When we know this, we are unable to be lulled into what is marketed to us and what others determine will make us happy. We are infinite and abundant. And when our cup overflows, so too does our generosity and love.

Affirmation: Today, I come inside myself to feel the infinite wisdom of the universe flowing through me. Today, I allow myself to be nourished by the nectar of Source. May I understand my desires so that they flower through my appreciation of the abundance that surrounds me.

Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
