What we want, what we envision, is very often held back by our past. We go over and over all the things that didn’t go perfectly, all the missed opportunities, all the abuse. We sense that there is meaning in these events because we have been shaped by them. We want meaning because to consider them as empty experiences would mean to see life as a series of dark unconnected encounters.
Where’s the light? Where’s the path? Can I create a better outcome? What is in my control and what requires my detachment? These are some of the questions that we may be asking ourselves this week. The cards for this reading are so beautiful and powerful, and they hold a poignant message. The power of our love and compassion has the potential for deep transformation that will take us to new future.
The centrepiece is The Magician. However, he needs something to work with. Of course, he has all the tools and elements at his disposal, yet one stands out: a beautiful chalice, perhaps the Holy Grail itself. This cup is held by a youthful knight, full of courage and determination. He is guided by the cup’s energy. The Knight of Cups acts on love and the warmth that brings people together.
As he meets The Magician, the chalice’s contents are poured into the mind-field of this special creator. It is a nectar that opens the heart and allows energy to move through us so that it becomes grounded from non-physical into the physical. What is important to create now is a life that is harmonious and empathetic, not anxious or divisive. This beautiful cup becomes that blanket that nourishes our life, overspilling its banks, touching all those around us.
Something about this week is giving us clarity about how we can achieve this result. The Magician doesn’t operate on a tangent; he is highly focused. Here, he using the cup’s sacred contents to infuse us and transform us, and in so doing, bring about a new paradigm.
Within the 5 of Cups, are two cups that are undisturbed and intact. But three have been turned over and are no longer serving a purpose. This is about the pivot point we experience when we decide to utilize the gifts of the present rather than mourn the past. It is important not to get stuck and to appreciate the healthy relationships and circumstances around us. If we can’t pivot, then we are still identifying ourselves with being hurt and will continue to interpret events as hurtful.
Since our sensitivities are still active, we defend ourselves by pushing things away from us so that we are protected. We close ourselves off and look to find ways to make people understand our hurt that isn’t rooted in openness and love, rather in control and anxiety.
The knight’s message is delivered to us and is being given a real boost of manifestational power. If we can lean into the openness of our hearts where we are focused on healing and love, rather than imperfections and tension, then we create a space for that reality to blossom forth. We learn from everyone and everyone learns from us. Isn’t that beautiful?
Affirmation: I welcome a future that is open and full of love. I am radiant with creative possibilities and I seek to let this joyful expression of who I am be shared with those around me.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
