Before we embark on a grand path, “the mission” or any big plans, we should take things slowly and engender a sincere curiosity about what we are envisioning. The reason I suggest the term “grand” is that it’s somewhat implied in the Judgement card. There is a definite calling here. We sense it, we feel it, propelling us and nudging us. But it is about the preparation for the new chapter rather than the new chapter itself. We are still within the realm of the old reality because something needs to be let go of and forgiven.
It is as if the Page of Wands looks out at us, a bit lost in his vision as his youthful imagination opens up a playful world of possibilities. Playing at things is the key here. It is the stage where we aren’t defined by rules and deadlines. Everything is possible, and so we are freer to be in contact with what we dare to dream about.
The page can more easily access what he is moving into as he is less defined by the parameters that an adult would place on things. He knows he can figure things out as he goes along. Right now, he is satisfied with the enjoyment of “what if”. There is less resistance to our ideas and we can move past our doubts which weigh us down.
What seems to happen naturally as a result is our need to make some plans. The 2 of Pentacles here is describing how we intend to back ourselves up energetically. This often requires us to work out details about how our ideas integrate with the world around us. This may suggest a financial plan, estimating costs, and laying out a sustainable approach.
The 2 of Pentacles is about balance, so understanding what we are working with and what is in our reach will feel like a small step when we may want a larger one. Also, when our world wants to become a bit bigger, we might feel stretched. Participating with life is important and will keep a flow going that will feel stimulating. If we don’t participate, we will not know what we are working with and the youthful visions of the page will simply remain abstract and evanescent.
For any new endeavour to take hold and become a positive reality, it must be free from that which previously confined it. When we attach ourselves to an identity or a belief about who we are and what we can achieve, we confine our energy. We want something more, yet we hit a threshold that we cannot cross. It is a quantum mark that needs to be disolved.
It seems ridiculous to think that a baby would prefer to live its life within the womb, or that a caterpillar would love to fly but there’s no chance that could ever happen. And yet, it could be entirely conceivable that, given the world that either of these two examples would be clinging to given the anxiety of such a change in reality, that they could in fact convince themselves they are not able to do it.
Little things build up over time, they accumulate and concretize in our mind. We base our experiences upon those accumulated thoughts and so the experience becomes fused with thought; our reality is bonded with our ideas of what is possible. We beat ourselves up because we sense failure where none exists. “I can’t fly when all I’ve known was to crawl.”
The stuff that sticks to us as we want something better is what needs to be acknowledged, forgiven, and gently released. When we consider a new direction, notice what surfaces. What stories come up? What past struggles and memories? The Judgement card is the universe calling us forth, waking us up and saying that more is not only possible but is actually waiting for us.
If we can say, “I forgive everyone for everything”, to quote Iyanla Vanzant, we disconnect ourselves from the bond that any pain, along with the identity label we’ve attached to it, has over us. We become someone new, free to create a new identity – one that can serve us so much better.
It requires honesty with ourselves. We need that honesty because if we can’t articulate our own voice, someone else will. If we can’t grasp our desire to become something new and beautiful, we will always be in the shadow of the past and other people’s opinions. This week’s reading is about being courageous and taking some small steps toward a personal vision. Let the universe open up a new world of possibilities. Forgive the old “you” for making some mistakes, and forgive those that may have held you back. People aren’t perfect and life is not always a straight path. Imperfections are the great teachers as they invariably reveal our most beautiful gifts and strengths. That, for sure, we can take with us into the future.
Affirmation: I love to dream. I wonder about what it would be like to live all that I dream about. I want to step inside that world and take some small steps to make it possible. I trust myself. I am courageous. I am able to meet the future with open arms and a warm heart. I am here.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!

some very good points well read Daniel; the drawing of the 2 of P here reminds me very much of a Shambhavi Mahamudra meditation in hindu religion when one focuses on the 3rd eye very much like it is portrayed here to see how things really are releasing thoughts no longer wanted
