“I shall give you riches beyond your wildest beliefs”, said the devil. “In exchange, you must live in my lands and cultivate my soil. But I shall tell you what to grow, how much, and what you are allowed to do with it. Do you accept?” Such is the language of obedience. The view that we can only have something if we agree to uncertain terms, vague outcomes and a plan that serves an agenda, doesn’t quite line up with the natural flow of abundance that pure positive energy allows freely and unconditionally. We are caught in the illusion that we don’t have a choice, or that we want something so badly, we would agree to almost anything.
This week’s reading describes a situation, either externally or internally, where we need to be mindful of an ultimatum. The Devil represents the illusion that nothing exists outside of what he tells us. He likes to dominate our mind and body by making it uncomfortable to question him. He leaves us feeling as though there are no options, and that we won’t be successful on our own or through our own intuitive wisdom.
I feel the subject matter will be around finances; how we make money, how much, what we spend it on, and what our goals are. There could be someone who “acts” as the devil too. Either way, we are encouraged to pause with any decisions. To say, “I’ll get back to you on that” will be very powerful at this time, and is a phrase that the devil finds very unsettling. Such a statement gives you time and power, the very things that can be taken from us.
There is no need to fear anything. Simply be present about what terms to accept and how that feels. The Devil is the ultimate narcissist. This influence is very sticky. It wants traction and attention. The key to working with The Devil is to understand how he seeks to use tactics and conditions. Be aware of the language that creates a belief that we must rely solely on his advice. If no other information is permitted or tolerated, we can view this as a red flag that we are entering an imbalanced equation.
The moment we take a step back and not allow our fears to interfere with our reason, we do something very profound: we step outside of the illusion. It is the illusion that has been set up and the bondage we relinquish. And who should be there for us to help us reestablish that connection, but The High Priestess. Meditating on the contrast between The Devil and The High Priestess is perhaps the most revealing lesson we can take here. She looks out at us with wide unflinching eyes, directly piercing the veil that we could be swept up in. She tells us, “be calm, don’t worry, there is more to know about this. I know there is something you want so much, but rest assured that everything happens within the perfection of divine timing.”
Her call to us is to ease our heart and to find wisdom in where we are. If we want something so badly, we risk that we close ourselves off to the abundance that is taking place right now, and thus focus on what we don’t have and the “why not’s” of this world. When we say “Why Yes!”, The Devil collapses and shrivels up in a shadow of faded irrelevancy. We stand in our power, not out of exertion or force, but out of love and clarity. For such is the language of Source.
Again, the thing to watch out for is anything that draws us into an unhealthy focus. It can be about obsessing over something, thinking that we have no options, that something larger looms over us, and that we feel tethered and heavy. The meditative energy of The High Priestess will lighten us and relieve us of any pressure and burden.
The space that seems to open up now is about feeling an impulse that is fresh and new. We seem to be finding peace with something. Perhaps we really see that things aren’t so bad and that there is more than enough time to work on something. Ah yes, “more than enough”. That is the language of Source! And the antithesis of… the other guy. The Ace of Coins fills us with appreciation, time, and blessings. We can plan, play around with ideas, investigate possibilities, and play the “what if” game. It feels like things are opening up, not closing down.
If you feel pressure this week, take some time to find out where that is coming from. Be neutral in your responses and give yourself the space you need to find your voice and how you feel. The Devil is weak because he needs to exaggerate and deceive. The High Priestess is powerful because she operates outside of time and space, and so is unmoved by the pressures of the mundane world. If you can step out of the “movie” for a bit, you just may have a revelation or two, and create some healthy new options for yourself to consider. I would guess that that will feel like a joyous place to be.
Affirmation: I take the time I need to weigh my options and to find the balance I need for my health and well-being. I am easy with myself and what I desire for my future. I realise that I am blessed with divine timing and that I can make good choices. I allow myself to rest in the arms of Source. I have more than enough of everything I need. From this, I go forth in peace.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
