A warm Sun is radiating upon and from within us this week, and it seems to be the expression of our inner (and outer) marriage of feminine and masculine principles. We can look at this week’s reading both as a whole and as a story line, and both are unique.
There are seemingly endless writings about the feminine and masculine archetypes, and how they are felt and expressed in each of us. Further, there seems to be new challenges to those characteristics as certain labels are being redefined for us. I still like to view things in their essence and hold to the archetypes that feed our psyche in the most healthy ways.
In short, each of us carries the feminine and masculine principles within us, and each person will express them differently and in unique proportions that are specific to that individual’s temperament. As well, there is also a fluidity between the two energies so that one of them can play a more prominent role at certain times than at others. It is a beautiful cycle that always gets refreshed in each other’s inner “vessel”.
The receptive feminine can temper the intellect of the masculine by giving it awareness and empathy. As well, the masculine can provide the structure and arena by which the subtleties of inspiration and creativity are made manifest by applied technique. We flow between the timeless and the timed, the unnamed and the identified, and between the cosmic and the world. We experience both, for when we are not balanced, we become lazy and repetitive, or detached and cold.
As a whole, this reading describes a beautiful flow and balance between the two aspects of our being. The Sun is showing how the wholesomeness of this interplay affects our personality. We are joyful and positive, and there is a sense that our energetic centre or solar-plexus is radiating that circulatory energy.
Looked at individually, we can see things in stages while this process is experienced. The Queen of Cups is tuned into the depths of her rhythmic connection to her emotional and expressive nature. She understands what she needs in a loving way as a means to provide nourishment to herself.
She not only creates beautiful things from this connection, but she shares her energy with others in a way that invites them to tune into their own inner rhythms. So, she emphasizes a time when we need to lessen the hold of our intellect and structured daily life to allow more of the intangible and ungraspable aspects of our subconscious to rise up from the depths of our inner ocean. We can “pull up” some fascinating and beautiful objects during this time.
If nothing else, she shows how the softer, more emotional side of us needs to be expressed by showing how we care for ourselves and others. The Sun emerges from this attention and tells us that through our compassionate attention, we ultimately connect to others on a very meaningful level where we allow life to flourish.
The King of Swords interestingly has a softer side to him as his clear mind and logical intellect is tempered through his wisdom and many years of experience. He is a wise council and knows the difference between action and meditation. This is further enhanced by the presence of the Queen of Cups. He is influenced even more by her softer energy, and consequently, he is even more powerfully attuned to his clarity as he ascertains the repercussions of many probabilities. Here, it is exemplified how powerful action requires a fundamental connection to the divine feminine. It is not a mistake that in many myths, warriors go on a quest to consult an oracle or powerful priestess. Occasionally, even seeing a few at one time!
This week, allow time for introspection and for gentle expressions of creativity. Allow yourself the time to be calm by creating a space to be receptive and soft. You may feel that through this attention, energy rises within you that you can hold and feel. This is a time of healing. As the week progresses, a clear mind that is free from emotional turmoil may be felt more prominently. There may be some meaningful insights that can arise from this state of mind. Certainly, the act of taking yourself to a new vantage point will be felt, and this will no doubt be a very welcome shift.
Affirmation: I am comfortable in taking the time I need to connect with myself. I love to experience my creative self bask in the light of the warm sun and feel my increased rejuvenation. From here, I can see things with greater clarity and mindfulness as I step into my increased power and vitality.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
