Your Week Ahead: January 13 to 19, 2025 – The Power Of Self Belief

The Hanged Man, Ace of Wands, and The World, from the Erenberg Tarot deck.

In apparent states of discomfort, it is sometimes not possible to move. There is a sensation of another act to follow, more information to come, or a renewal of how we see ourselves and our situation. If we can allow the moment to be free of the expectation of how things should go, we can invite a kind of surrender that will help to serve our perspective in a positive way, rather than seeing ourselves as victims.

We can sometimes find ourselves bound to certain experiences and seeing things only one way. This week, our reading opens with The Hanged Man. We are upside down, seeing the world differently, and for the moment, tied by our feet. This is a preparatory card, signifying a pause in action. We can have the feeling of being pulled deeper into something as the blood flows to the head.

Occasionally, meditation can be like this. We often run away from ourselves in the daily pursuit of goals. Once we stop, or are stopped, we can see things differently because our awareness is now operating from a different set of parameters. Another example is that we can’t quite sense our next step. In our quest for truth or wisdom, as in the story of Odin, we surrender ourselves on the branches of Yggdrasil, the tree of life in the hope to gain a glimpse of the unknown.

There is an interesting dichotomy of The Hanged Man that suggests we surrender ourselves to the discomfort, and yet being somewhat deliberate about putting ourselves into that discomfort. Perhaps something deep within us knows that we need to enter this upside down state because we sense that on the other side of this is the clarity we seek.

As all things are impermanent, the hold we find ourselves in loosens. Reemerging from our inverted state, our blood flow normalizes and inertia or immobility is replaced by revitalization. It appears we feel differently about a matter and are ready to take some steps forward that feel good and that serve us in more beneficial ways. The Ace of Wands describes initiative and action, and the beginning of a new set of goals fuelled by new energy.

While the future is not certain, the main push here is about feeling proactive about our journey. The line between inaction and action in the week’s reading is remarkable. What it is showing is a pivot point in our lives where we can feel better about where we are currently. There is a sense that, through this burst of energy, we can apply ourselves with more presence. The horizon brightens up a bit and our enthusiasm feeds our desires.

Where this takes us is to a sense that all experiences serve us and come together to shape us that is specifically tailored to our life path. The World is a card about our self-knowing meeting the knowingness of the universe. The mundane is transformed into its metaphysical counterparts. One can’t help but be taken to a new vibration, a new paradigm, and a new sense of purpose. Outer circumstances can change where we move on to better things. Or, we can begin to feel more empowered and operate from a new way of seeing ourselves.

The World card represents a new cycle beginning as the old one fades away. Whether this is an internal change or external one, the belief in oneself is paramount to all else. True power to affect change comes from having placed ourselves in the flow of guidance and blessing. Our sacrifices are met with rewards, things make sense, and action becomes clear. There is nothing to do except take yourself to a new energetic place.

Affirmation: I understand when it is a good time to pause so that I may allow the gifts of the universe to emerge. I trust that I will see that which I need to see, and that my actions may be based on clarity. I want to feel joyful about my direction; I want to expand my joy. May I stand in joy and enjoy what is unfolding.

Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
