A plan is being formulated, the components and details, and the implementation are all within reach. The question to ask now is, what is my purpose? What do I really want to achieve? Are they in alignment with my personal integrity?
This week’s reading looks at two sides of a coin, no visual pun intended. One being about the pursuit of one’s goals and maintaining the course with the need to be resilient. And the other is about how we use our influence. The central theme here is integrity. If we hold ourselves to a path of impeccability, we cannot be led astray by the need to correct bad actions toward us by exhibiting power over others.
When we encounter the 9 of Wands, we are essentially taking things to their completion. We know what needs to be done and we are prepared to see it through and stand on our own efforts. This card also describes some physical discomfort or psychic injury. We may have felt as if we were defending our position or pulling ourselves through a period of reflection on past hurts.
Sometimes this card is about struggle, but not necessarily bad. When we want something new, we set out to make it happen by our focus and will. However, there is also mixed in this the memory of what caused us to desire something better for ourselves. Deeper, this can represent us confronting our insecurities and old invalid beliefs about what we can accomplish. When we want to take things past a threshold, we work with anything that has held us back from crossing that line before.
Resilience, the ability to keep going, feeling the hurt and doing it anyway, getting past it – these are all sensations that come up here. We do it for ourselves because no one can or should do it for us. We are proving to ourselves that our visions are ours alone to achieve.
Arriving in the “garden” of the Ace of Pentacles can feel like a blessing of some kind. There is a grace that is given to us. This can be about a new beginning, like a door opening. Or it can be a gift. It also has the sensation of resting for a moment in the feeling that all is well. We can enjoy our inner and outer space without the need to defend it. We have what we need, more than enough. It is as if the skies are saying, “Well done, good work!”
Part of what maybe taking place is the need to correct past hurts against us that led us to this point in our lives. The reading up to the 5 of Swords is wonderful, good work. But are we then acting out of a past insecurity? The 5 of Swords represents an inappropriate balance of power. It can be about what we do with our new sense of purpose, or about confronting those who hurt us in the past.
Like all things in life, we have a choice. It may feel good to hit back at those who have acted badly toward us. However, we should examine the relationship and perhaps choose not to perpetuate it. Sometimes, it’s hard to see if we are on the winning side of this argument or the losing one. In either case, it is most often not productive and can lead to more involvement with something that is not serving us.
Money is power. When we feel less connected to sources of money, we can feel hard done by, even victimized. When money returns to us, we may want to lash out or act in ways that we normally wouldn’t do. What we can’t predict is what the outcome will be. Winning and losing are about power dynamics. They shouldn’t be the thing we gauge our success on.
What is called for here is integrity once again. The ultimate purpose of those situations that don’t serve us is to rise above them. They gave us an opportunity for growth. In a sense, we called upon those circumstances to challenge us. Why should we then feel the need to hit back or correct anything?
This really isn’t the card that describes the kind of success that is positive. However, there can be a feeling of vindication because we may still be working with elements that were previously imbalanced. Calling upon our inherent wisdom and mindfulness when something becomes overstated is the best approach.
Kindness always wins. It speaks of true power and is reflective of the kind of energy that invites everyone to be a better version of themselves. We all have something that we’re working on. The key to the 5 of Swords is to recognize this and to not get involved in pettiness. We may win today but lose tomorrow. The most important gift we give to ourself and to others is our connection to source and to the abundance that is always there for us, overflowing in its goodness.
Affirmation: I have pulled through, I have shown to be true to myself. I connect with myself and my resolve and bring a warm light to shine upon all things. I invite the blessings of the universe to help me apply myself in the best ways possible. I gently let go of the past and hold my deeper purpose softly in my heart.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
