Chaos in the world, uncertainties in our lives, and how these dynamics get played out in our relationships as we strive for more control and normalcy, may have felt burdensome recently. It might have felt as if being held back with no way out except forward. We need a course correction, a time out, and some healthy boundaries to reestablish whose work is whose and what belongs to someone else. A balance needs to be found between what is a commitment and what is there in life for our healthy and joyful pleasure so that our spirit is restored.
Who better to guide us toward that end then The Hermit. Our beloved teacher appears to us shining a light in our lives with words of wisdom, pulling us inside and reconnecting us with our voice and our heart. He really represents our higher selves and how we tune into that vibration. The message here is about finding out what is missing or what has been lacking that provides us with that unmistaken heart connection to everything around us and beyond.
The time for standing in our light is now, along with the integrity that that action entails. He represents knowing when to retreat and when it is needed to find truth – and to stand in that truth. He speaks of closing the door, either literally or metaphorically. That can be challenging for we often don’t operate on that level. We mostly operate by engaging with others but not really processing the delineation between intersecting psychic material.
Hence, we take on what is not ours or get a bit lost in cloudy areas where that material is hard to separate. We can soon feel responsible for providing solutions for others when it is not ours to do so. If there is a healthy interaction, there will also be the understanding of what is needed so that we feel that we have the freedom to take care of ourselves in our own personal way without the need to explain or justify it.
This is a time to apply a gentle course correction so that we can feel our own bodies and be physically aware of what we need. This is clearly evident in the 6 of Swords as we observe a scene of calm and of taking a journey toward a restorative shore. The hermit and his staff become the man and his oar, and is indicative of the propelling guidance we are being given.
This card describes a break from challenging environments or relationships. To what extent these experiences are hard will be different for everyone. It could range from making a separation from a close relationship and finding out if it still provides us with love and meaning. Or, perhaps it simply shows a time where things settle down a bit and we get a chance to find some peace and perspective.
The destination will appear after this card, so having The Sun come to us next heralds a time of joy and of abundance. We are in a place of warmth and positivity, and we feel taken care of as we reconnect to Source. The child-like enthusiasm is evident here and things are given to us in ways that we need.
If things have felt busy or heavy lately, take heart and know that calmer shores are ahead where you get to be you, no questions asked. The beautiful thing about this process is that it acts as an example to others for the need to take care of ourselves and to initiate a period of healing and of recalibration.
This is the “you are you, and I am I” of the Gestalt prayer that might be helpful to recite to ourselves:
“I do my thing and you do your thing.
Fritz Perls
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I, and if by chance we find each other, it’s beautiful.
If not, it can’t be helped.”
This is not only a prayer about our close love relationships but about our relationship to everything. It is the importance of not getting lost in the illusion, in the duality, and in the struggle. It is a call to personal unity and integrity, and to the exquisite rapture that is ours to behold and embody.
Affirmation: I feel that this is a time to reestablish awareness in my relationship to all things. I care deeply about my life and nurture myself as I need nurturing and balance. This always feeds my soul as I connect to pure positive energy. This is my time to fill my cup. When it becomes filled and overflowing, I can share myself with others once again.
