Powerful thoughts are propelling us this week, driven by a need to succeed or to prove oneself. The desire to get ahead, perhaps at all costs will need to be closely monitored lest we lose control of what we actually want and where we actually want to go. Boldness is favoured. But as any skilled warrior, awareness of the art of battle is how we move to a place of true self-esteem.
Something has been lurking in the background, perhaps an illusive thought or situation where we didn’t really know what to think or how to react, suddenly becomes clear. The conditions are right, and at the start of this week, we are able to see the truth. A kind of breakthrough occurs and we see the root cause of something. This allows us to formulate a new approach, opinion or insight that sets the stage for action.
The power of the Ace of Swords is a welcome energy. However, caution is sometimes called for especially as we look to the aspects it makes to other cards in a spread. Here, we see a cousin next to it in the 5 of Swords. While the force of the ace is a beautiful moment of clear thinking, the 5 of Swords suggests radical, thoughtless, often abusive ways that force could be applied.
The caution here is not to become too attached to the energy of the breakthrough so that we dominate others with that directness. It will be important to know that what is true for us may not be true for others. Confronting others could simply put someone’s back up and exacerbate a deteriorating conversation.
On the other hand, the result of our clarity may create the opportunity for action which others may not like and could possibly feel defeated against. This is how our mindful application can be used. These two cards side by side shows how we address an imbalanced situation where we could feel like we get the upper hand.
Often the 5 of Swords represents how we feel the need to walk away from someone who is exerting too much authority. If we look a bit further toward the Queen of Pentacles, there is an indication that we are moving closer to what is healthy for us. So, addressing the imbalance may be what is needed in order for us to come back to a healthy sense of self.
One other aspect I see between the ace and the five is to be careful that our new idea isn’t stolen from us or used against us in some way. Again, if we are mindful of the clear thoughts emerging, we get to decide how much information we share, how to act based on that clarity, and how to restore balance in our lives.
The end of the week appears to settle down into that balance and a restored environment where our boundaries are respected. We need this, and in fact this is what the Ace of Swords is showing us and guiding us toward. How we get there will be based on our ability to address others with firmness yet kindness.
If we become too forceful, we run the risk of having the situation become hostile and too emotionally charged. If we are not too identified with the need to vanquish someone or something, we will be less prone to the unproductive side of conflict. Skillful means is applying our wisdom to a charged situation.
Winning takes on many forms. Ultimately, the most meaningful outcome will be our peace of mind. Using mindfulness will allow us to bypass a person that could disrupt that peace. Let the ace guide you toward that peace and knowledge that your sacred space is created in the sanctity of your self-worth. That can never be taken from you nor diminished, nor defeated.
Affirmation: I am being given the opportunity to see a situation more clearly now. I appreciate this information as it helps me make better decisions about what is healthy for me. As I act on this clarity, I allow more balance into my life where I can be more of who I truly am.
Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
