Your Week Ahead: April 30 to May 6, 2023 – Birthing A New Life

10 of Swords, Queen of Pentacles, and 5 of Swords, from the The Star Tarot created by Cathy McClelland (

The universe is holding space for us now to bring us into more harmony and contact with what is healthy for us. As with any new birth, the initiation we feel at this time may bring up memories for our distant past and what we perceive to be painful experiences. We have a choice about what we identify with, who we blame, and what we choose to identify with moving forward.

The fundamental message for this week is to understand one’s innate connection with source energy and the nourishing elements of nature. Despite anything that happens externally now, we can benefit by seeing things from a different perspective.

How productive we can be is largely based on understanding inner peace. By this I would offer taking time to deescalate any sense of reaction that undermines that peace. The 10 of Swords has the energy of culmination and of potentially exacerbating the painful side of a story. Let things arise for what they are without getting attached to it. In many instances, we don’t need to react when we see this card. However, our ego still feels threatened and justified by going over the material until we beat it to death in a need to utterly vanquish it out of our lives.

The result only destabilizes us and takes us off centre and back into a mindset that steers us back into the past. The 10 of Swords is a healing card. It acts to release toxins from our unconscious. Know the material. Let the material out. Don’t continue to identify with it. Whatever the lessons were, accept them as the beautiful compost for the creation of something new.

This new birth is about what we choose freely now, not what we have defeated. Take everyone out of the equation; this is about growth. If we can’t do this, we can’t really move on. We take whatever story we can’t release with us. Witness what creates tension and how that can ripple out in one’s environment. It’s not worth it. Be light and easy about this and be aware of being weighted down by the feeling of not getting it right. It’s okay, let it go.

The Queen of Pentacles shows us this connection to peace and to growth. She guides us foward and nourishes us in our fertile garden. She is helping us birth something new and beautiful despite the pangs and contractions. There is a wonderful depiction of renewal here. She also creates a space of forgiveness, both for ourselves and for others. Feel that relief, that easing of tension, and opening of the soil.

The 5 of Swords describes what can happen when we don’t choose forgiveness. There is a lack of detachment. Either we see ourselves as victims of someone else’s behaviour, or we try to exert a form of power over others in order to prevent them from hurting us. In most instances, the best thing is to wait it out and not get too involved in what is being stirred up.

The Queen of Pentacles says to us, “you are safe.” If something seems to want to overpower you, or if you feel any desire to get on top of a situation and exert yourself, take a breath and a step back from it. Examine your reactions or what takes place. If we can hold onto our centre and our balance and not feed into anything by continuing unproductive energies, then we can move past things more easily.

There will be a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on Friday which will accelerate the flushing in and out of cosmic “star stuff.” We are all in this together. It’s just energy. Sometimes it gets locked in certain areas of our lives and needs a good push. If you’re feeling it, others are too. “How can I help this situation” is what is most needed now. Being an example of healing, balance, and peace guides our actions and others too. Let us place our emphasis there, and let the universe meet us with its bountiful blessings.

Affirmation: I am at peace with my past. I let it arise and I let it go. I am here now, calm and grounded in a nourishing space that feeds me wisdom and grace. This I bring to my environment and to others.

Thanks for reading, and I wish you a wonderful week!
